How the $2,000 Tariff Dividend Checks Would Work
The administration has offered few operational details about how the tariff rebate program would be structured. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the White House is still exploring potential income eligibility limits.
Bessent indicated that one proposal under discussion would target families earning less than $100,000 per year, although he emphasized that no decision has been made and the plan remains under review.
Analysts estimate that limiting payments to households under that income level would cost approximately $300 billion, according to the Tax Foundation. If distributed more broadly, the amount could significantly exceed available tariff revenues.
During the COVID-era relief bills, a proposal to offer $2,000 stimulus checks was estimated to cost around $464 billion, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.
Correction I think you mean joke:)
It would be nice if it was true and we didn’t have to pay it back with interest and then have it hike the price of everything even higher than what it is now, pretty soon everyone will be living on the street.
thank you
