Why it’s great: The Citi Double Cash effectively pays 2% back on every purchase (1% when you buy + 1% when you pay). No annual fee and easy redemption to statement credit, direct deposit, or check make it ideal for hands-off earners. Some Citi promotions also add extra cash back for travel booked through Citi Travel.

Who should get it: People who always pay their balance and value predictable, high flat-rate cash back.
