Bad Social Media Tax Advice

Social media platforms are rife with misleading or outright false information about tax credits, refund opportunities, and loopholes that promise bigger returns. Posts may promote unrealistic claims such as “secret tax credits,” overnight refunds, or shortcuts in tax preparation tools.

Following this misinformation not only leads to erroneous tax filings but also exposes you to the risk of IRS audits and penalties.

If you come across tax advice on social platforms that sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Always verify tax guidance using official IRS resources such as IRS.gov or through a licensed tax professional.
