How Social Security Supports Millions

Social Security is best known for its retirement benefits, which provide a steady monthly income to workers who have paid into the system over their careers. These benefits are also extended to certain family members, including spouses and dependents. In addition, survivor benefits help families maintain financial stability after the loss of a loved one who was eligible for Social Security.

Beyond retirement, the SSA also manages programs that support individuals who cannot work due to disability. Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) provides income to workers who have a qualifying disability and sufficient work history. Meanwhile, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) offers financial assistance to older adults, blind individuals, and people with disabilities who have limited income and resources.

Together, these programs form a critical safety net, helping millions of Americans maintain a basic standard of living.

I wish I Was lucky enough to get social security disability income, I should have been getting it since 2016, but I lost my herring and the judge denied me because of my age, and I was tired from my disability attorneys not doing their job, so I didn’t appeal and I should have, I’ve been out of work since 2011, and I can’t receive it because of the rule of you had to have worked within the past 5 yrs and I can’t get SSI either because ‘supposedly’ my husband makes too much ‘money’ which is b.s.!! Consider yourself Lucky That You Can Receive 4,000 or 5,000 a month,I wish I could get that, we Have 2 boys 2 support, I want another baby but I’m afraid we couldn’t do it without another income, But It Is Greatly Needed for us to Survive, to pay bills, rent, food, personal care etc. just a decent life, tired of renting would love a house but that’s never going to happen not when a house is half a million to 800,000 UHG The Disability Laws are F*CKED up! I didn’t go back to work because I was disabled, and I can’t, and I have 0 experience for online, and that kills too, Too much Damned pain, I can’t hardly even do any housework, but then, u got people with no limbs winning gold medals and doing incredible things and then the government says ya, no, if they can do that Then your not really disabled, so no we’re not going to approve you, go to hell, So if You’re getting that amount every month congrats!! By The Time I’m 71 I’m Only Going to get Like $720 bucks a month and I worked a ton of Job’s from 1993 to 2011, Such a joke, I Won’t even be able to pay rent, If I Receive my *regular* social security at 64 it’s only going to be about $500 or 600 a month such b.s. cuz I paid way more into it than that!! And the government makes enough money They can afford to give Me a couple 1,000 a month. But Anyhow Consider yourself Lucky,Ugh $5,000 Extra a month, must be nice!
