Under the settlement agreement, Amazon must implement substantial changes to ensure clarity and transparency moving forward. Among the required improvements:
Changes to Enrollment
- Sign-up screens must use simple and explicit wording, such as “Join Prime,” rather than implying a shipping upgrade.
- The exact membership cost must appear clearly on the page, along with the renewal date and automatic billing information.
- Options to decline Prime must be displayed as prominently as the option to join.
Changes to Cancellation
- Cancelling must not be difficult, costly, confusing, or time-consuming.
- Auto-renewal must be easy to disable.
- Amazon cannot hide or bury cancellation options through misleading or excessive screens.
Impossible to navigate through the bombardment of advertising. Certainly no clear path to anything except confusion. Which is exactly what was intended. Just a continuation of what the settlement was about. Thanks for nothing.
