How the $2,000 Tariff Dividend Checks Would Work

The administration has offered few operational details about how the tariff rebate program would be structured. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the White House is still exploring potential income eligibility limits.

Bessent indicated that one proposal under discussion would target families earning less than $100,000 per year, although he emphasized that no decision has been made and the plan remains under review.

Analysts estimate that limiting payments to households under that income level would cost approximately $300 billion, according to the Tax Foundation. If distributed more broadly, the amount could significantly exceed available tariff revenues.

During the COVID-era relief bills, a proposal to offer $2,000 stimulus checks was estimated to cost around $464 billion, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.

  1. A $2000.00 Stimulus Check would help my family very much.
And kick start the economy, which is badly needed.

  2. Sadly, the democrats will fight this tooth and nail and whittle it down to nothing solely because it was Trump’s idea and it would make the GOP look good. They can’t stand that and their contempt for the citizens is only slightly less than their contempt for Trump. Any tariff money collected will be feasted on by Congress. We will see breadcrumbs at best.

    1. You do realize that this could be passed without dems. The majority of all offices are Rep. They keep making the uninformed believe it’s dems fault with everything.

      1. No, the Rs barely control the House and the Senate and don’t forget the Rinos who fight President Trump and oppose everything he says or tries to do. The Rinos r really dems in disguise and the independents in Congress more often than not side with the dems! It would require more than a single digit majority of Rs in both the House and the Senate for Trump to do all that should be done!

      2. Not at all true. It would take more than a 2 member majority in both the House and the Senate in order for Trump to do what needs to be done. Also there r the FOREVER rinos in Congress who always side with the dems. So, no, the President cannot do exactly what he wants to do.

    2. (“Sadly, the democrats will fight this tooth and nail”) There are MAGA ones out there I personally know will fight this (Former minister landlord of mine and cousin, and evangelist cousin of his.) Well he complained of not wanting it when the very first ones went out. Let’s see if he’s still preaching the same negativity about these possible stimulus ones as he did the previous administration now there is a new so called “sheriff” in town.

  3. I’d very much appreciate this check! It would help my finances! It would be so special that President Trump cares about his citizens!

  4. I hope you’re plans for helping seniors are successful. It’s hard for me to survive on $800.00 SS, and pay for my solar roof. Thank you for being such a loyal President to America!

  5. When a politician takes the oath of office and then violent this oath. Can’t this person be prosecuted??? Or is this do I say not as I do government ???

  6. I support you 100+%, President Trump, but I can’t answer your questions bc they always require donations & I don’t have $ anymore to give. Thank you so much for all you & your amazing family give to the rest of us (even those that don’t seem to appreciate your efforts). There will always be those that are never satisfied I suppose no matter what you do!

    1. AMEN! I get a dozen emails a week asking for “my opinion” on various matters. But when I try to respond, there is no way to do so unless I include a financial contribution.
I’m sure many others feel the same frustration. I often feel that our “opinion” matters only if we’re financially able to send money.

  7. We all need to help like people need that check helps people out to pay their rent and their car to and eat to help families and seniors out to pay their rent and medical bills to

  8. These would greatly catch up all my big bills I have. Being under poverty level, it’s extremely difficult to keep up, this word at least bring me current and help my credit report! Please come thru for us.

  9. My boyfriend receives $2,537.00 per month SS for a back injury. He also takes care of me and my granddaughter for everything we need. Is he eligible?
Also, I have no income and I homeschool my granddaughter. I had to apply for a small grant to help with her school supplies, so would I be eligible for any stimulus for us?
    Thank you
