In-Person Renewals Become More Common
As you get older, many states also require you to renew your license in person rather than online or by mail. This change can begin as early as age 62 in some states and as late as 79 in others.
The purpose is straightforward: in-person renewals allow DMV staff to:
- Verify your identity
- Check your vision
- Observe any potential mobility concerns
Some states allow a mix—for example, permitting online renewal every other cycle while requiring occasional in-person visits.
No tickets, no accidents, exemption. Look at all problem drives. I see accidents all the time. Those involved don’t include seniors. Where is the ACLU when you need them?
I can see it from a safety standpoint. But for those of us that know how to drive with NO ACCIDENTS, it seems like a waste of $$.
Thanks. Very useful
