5 Smart Tips for Saving Money on Amazon

April 28, 2025 · Shopping

Ok, so the biggest retailer in America is Walmart, but the second is Amazon, and it is then closely followed by Costco. Considering that this is a giant of the industry, it is easy to understand that many people shop from Amazon, so why not make things easier?

It is not surprising to find Amazon in second place. After all, here is the place where you can go if you want a large variety of products and efficient shipping. Also, let’s not forget about video streaming, audiobooks,  and access to digital storage, all of them being available if you have a Prime membership.

There are lots of reasons to join Prime, but this is not the only trick you can use to get some nice discounts. There are many more ways to save some money while shopping, and we are here today to share all of them with you.

No-rush shipping is always a good choice

So you are looking to shop on Amazon and also save money. This is amazing, and choosing no-rush shipping is a great strategy that can help you with your goal. Wondering how this works? It’s simple!

There are certain orders when you can select no-rush shipping at checkout, and we prefer this option because, first of all, it’s free, and then you get some perks that are unique to this option. For example, you can easily score a discount on your current order, and if you have Prime, they can offer you rewards like cash back, digital credits, or promotional discounts to use on future orders.

You can use the no-rush shipping option when you don’t immediately need the item. When the usual two-day or next-day delivery is not mandatory, you can always opt for this and put more cash into your pockets.

The only disadvantage is that this option is not available for all items, and the only way you can verify if an item is eligible or not is at the checkout. For now, there is no other way, and this can somehow slow down the shopping experience.

Amazon Coupons

The USA is a place where most of us know the power of coupons. They are so useful that some of us even become obsessed with the idea, and we know it very well. Shows like Extreme Couponing present these instances specifically.

But one thing not many are aware of is that Amazon offers coupons, and you can use them for some sweet savings on your favorite items. They come as clickable coupons, link coupons, or promo codes that can automatically apply at checkout, or you need to enter a code in order to use them.

When you are searching for an item, be careful about one thing: the small orange “coupon” banner under the price. This is the sign that shows you that you are allowed to use your coupons on that specific item.

The easiest way to get coupons is to enter Amazon’s Coupon Page, and here you’ll be able to look at all discounts because they are gathered in one place. When you find a coupon, be sure to click the box next to it to apply the discount to your cart. If you forget this step, the discount is not applied, and you will need to pay the full price.

Try the Prime Visa credit card

Believe it or not, if you are the type of person who likes to buy from Amazon almost all the time, then the Prime Visa credit card could be a game-changer for your finances. Maybe you are not on board with the idea of applying for a new credit card, but this one is an incredible choice because the rewards it offers are incredibly useful.

If you have the Prime Visa card and you are also a Prime member, you will get 5% back on all Amazon and Audible purchases made with the card. Also, if you are a big traveler, you need to know that you will get a 5% back on Chase Travel purchases.

And the good things don’t stop here! There is a rotation of selected products, and if you think about purchasing any of them, you earn 10% cash back. All you have to do is use the Prime Visa card. If you are an avid shopper, this is not a hard thing to do. This is a good strategy to save some money while you are actively spending it.

But what we like the most about this card is that you can also get 2% back at restaurants and gas stations. If you commute regularly and eat at restaurants, this is a great advantage. Furthermore, the Prime Visa card has no annual fee or foreign transaction fees, so you can enjoy all of these perks for free!

Woot!

So, you are here because discounts are your favorites and you want to get all of them, right? Well, this is perfect because if you don’t know about the Woot! deals, you are in for a ride. Woot! is basically the place where you can find all of Amazon’s daily deals, and the special thing about it is that we are talking about real discounts. 96% off discounts!

But the sacred rule that applies when something is too good to be true also applies here. There’s a catch! The deals you find on Woot! are time sensitive and come in limited stock, which means you need to be quick. The inventory and prices change daily, so you should keep an eye on what’s going on if you want to get the best prices for things that you actually need.

Also, Prime members get free standard shipping on all Woot! purchases. This is a great advantage you should consider. But even if you’re not a Prime member, the standard shipping costs only $6 per order.

Subscribe & save

If you like to use Amazon to get all of your daily essentials, such as coffee, vitamins, paper towels, or toiletries, then the Subscribe & Save program might be a great tool you can use to save money while keeping your household stocked.

The program works as follows: you can subscribe to your favorite items, and the system will allow you to get them for special prices, and by special, we mean discounted. If you look at eligible items, you will be able to see the discounted price on the product page, but this price only becomes available if you subscribe to it.

If you look closely, you will notice that Amazon offers thousands of products through Subscribe & Save. From groceries to personal care items, you will be able to find anything you are interested in.

The process is simple. First, you identify the products that you need, and then you select the preferred quantity and delivery frequency. If you want to cancel or modify the order, you can do it at any time. One of the things she likes the most about this service is that once you order five or more qualifying items in a month to a single address, you will get some additional discounts that apply to the whole order.
