#2 Eat before doing any grocery shopping!

This should go without saying, but if you are planning to save up on groceries, you should not go shopping on an empty stomach. When you go to the store hungry, everything on the shelves is going to end up looking appealing to you, no matter if you actually need them or not. It’s going to derail your plans immediately, and all thoughts of sticking to your grocery list will be out the window.

It may not seem like much in the moment; you’re getting an extra snack or something to eat when you get out of the store, a little treat for yourself, or you buy something that you say you will use when cooking. But when you add all the little things up, you will end up with an extra $25 added to your receipt.

And if you add those up over the course of a month, you can end up saving the majority of that $100 simply by eliminating these expenses from your shopping trip. So, the bottom line is to make sure you are not hungry when you go food shopping, whether you are eating a snack before or after a meal; your wallet will thank you!
