Beyond Social Security: Other Government Benefits You May Qualify For

Your Path to a More Secure Retirement

You’ve worked hard your entire life, contributed to the system, and now it’s time for that system to support you. Social Security is a vital part of your retirement, but it doesn’t have to be the only part. The government benefits we’ve explored—from help with Medicare premiums and prescription drugs to assistance with groceries and utility bills—are designed to make your retirement years less stressful and more financially secure.

The most important takeaway is to be proactive and investigate your options. Please do not assume you are not eligible. The only way to know for sure is to check. Thousands of dollars in benefits go unclaimed every year, simply because people don’t know they exist or don’t believe they qualify.

Your action plan can be simple. Take one small step today. Visit the BenefitsCheckUp.org website to run a free, confidential screening. Or, pick up the phone and call your local Area Agency on Aging to schedule a conversation. Taking that first step can open the door to valuable support that can make a real, positive difference in your daily life. You’ve earned this peace of mind—now is the time to claim it.

In the early 2000s, I was on SSDI before I was 65. It seems to me I lost my Disability portion of my SS when I started drawing my SS. How do I find out if I lost it, and how can I get it back?
I am now on VA disability, and was told I have the right to both, as one has nothing to do with the other.
    Thank you
