Did you know that you cannot return quite a lot of things to Walmart?

We all love shopping, but there is one thing that most people hate: return policies! And when it comes to Walmart, you need to be careful not only about what you plan on getting but also about the return policy for that item.

And do not lie; with how big the retailer is, you have shopped at Walmart at least once in your life. When it comes to deals and learning how to be a frugal spender, you should keep an eye on all shops in your area, and this includes Walmart. Especially when you plan on making a bigger purchase such as electronics or even gardening items!

Yet, there is one thing you need to keep in mind: while the store does have a generous 90-day return policy (and you may not even need a copy of the receipt to get it), there are items that are not protected by it! So before you head into the store thinking you’ve got it, make sure you read about some of the items that Walmart will not accept for returns!

Have you ever been rejected when trying to return a product to Walmart? Let us know about it in the comments below!

#1 Medical items

There are a lot of medical items and equipment you will be able to find at Walmart, but not all of them are eligible for returns. After all, not all medical equipment is made for the same reason and with the same scope in mind, and some may be able to be resold, while others are not eligible for the same leniency when it comes to giving them back.

For example, items that are made to help you walk, be they crutches or walkers, can be returned and exchanged for the same model or a similar one if you do that within 90 days since you first purchased the item. The same situation is the case for things like slings since if you have used them already, you cannot give them back. However, if any of these items have not been used and are unopened in their original packaging, you are eligible to get your full money back.

When it comes to hygienic medical items, you will not be able to return them in any capacity since they are meant to be sanitary items, and the retailer will not accept them back. So you have to be sure about what you are getting when it comes to personal medical equipment and items, such as bath seats and bedpans.

#2 Prescription medication

A lot of us end up going to Walmart to make sure of their pharmacy section, especially when it comes to having to fill in a prescription since they have really good deals and you can end up saving a lot of money if you go get your meds from Walmart. You can be one of the lucky ones that have a generic prescription, and you will be able to get a 30-day supply of meds for only $4 or a 90-day supply for only $10. That’s a bargain you can’t miss!

However, you should also be careful when you go get them. They do not accept you going back with the meds in order to get a return; prescription meds are not part of the return program, so do not try to go give them back as they will turn you away.

#3 Any sort of test kit

Similar to prescription medication and even medical equipment, the test kits are also treated like the other two: they are not covered by the return policy, and you should not expect to be able to return a health-related test kit that you can take at home. This includes pregnancy tests (so do not let your friends go wild when they are getting them) and also home-diagnosis tests, like the at-home drug tests.

Another item that has been included and that you may have stocked up on in the last few years are COVID-19 kits that you can take home. These are also under the no-return policy of Walmart, so you are better off donating them or using them if there is still a while until the expiration date.

#4 Gift cards

Be it that you have gotten one for a friend or family member as a stocking stuffer or present and you did not get to give it to them, or that you have received such a gift card yourself, know that even if it was bought from Walmart, you will not be able to bring it over and get the money off it. This is because they cannot verify that the card has not been used before taking it back, and they will not risk reselling it to someone else and ruining their reputation.

If you do not want to use it or regift the card that you have, then you can see if you can sell it online and get cash for it instead. You may not get the full amount on the card if you want to get rid of it fast, but it is a great way to make some cash back that you can put to good use towards something else!

If you are sure you will use a gift card, then you may be able to find one faster and easier (sometimes even cheaper) on Amazon! It will be delivered to your email address quickly, and you can use it shortly after!

#5 Guns and ammunition, or other weapons

While Walmart still sells guns and ammo to adults interested in owning a weapon, as well as other types of non-lethal guns and weapons, they are also very strict when it comes to the return policy for these items. Their policy does not cover any type of ammunition or firearm that you may have purchased at a Walmart. So if you happen to have bought the wrong caliber of ammo, then you will not be able to get a refund on those.

Other types of weapons that are not covered by the policy include BB guns, air guns, and airsoft guns, as well as crossbows.

#6 Vehicles that run on gas

If you buy a vehicle that is running on gas from Walmart, you will not be able to just wheel it back to the store and get your money back. It is not something that they accept, and their policy, while covering some gas-powered items, does not cover all the ones that you may be interested in getting a refund on. After all, they cannot guarantee the state in which you have brought back the machine, and it will obviously have been used before.

The ones that they will not accept as a return include go-karts, ATVs, dirt bikes, and scooters. While other everyday items that use gas to work, like chainsaws and lawnmowers, are allowed to be brought back. The only thing you need to make sure of before you get to the store is that all the gas has been taken out of the machinery before you start completing the return forms.

#7 Limited returns: Electronics

When it comes to electronics, Walmart has a pretty confusing return policy, and it generally has a time limit placed on both when you can return them and what you can actually return. Since it varies from item to item, the best course of action is to make sure you read the policy well before you commit to buying something so that you do not end up having a nasty surprise when you want to return it.

Otherwise, things like consumer electronics will have to be returned to the store within 30 days from the day of purchase, a shorter time frame than before, which used to be 90 days.

And since we have been talking about things you cannot return, make sure you are careful when ordering from Amazon! The huge online retailer will not take back any of these items, so be careful when shopping!
