9. Idaho – $75 Rebate Payments

Idahoans will receive a total of $350 million in tax refunds thanks to a measure signed by Governor Brad Little in February. There are 2 conditions that people have to fulfill so that they can qualify:

  • Full-time Idaho residents who had filed their tax returns for either 2020 or 2021;
  • Full-time Idaho resident who has submitted returns for the Idaho grocery credit refund.

They started paying their citizens in March. If an Idaho resident owed state taxes in 2020, they got either $75 or 12% of that amount, whichever was higher (check Form 40, line 20 for your reported tax amount). Every single taxpayer and their dependents were eligible for a refund.

Taxpayers who opted for direct deposit of their refunds got those rebates first, followed by those who requested paper rebate cheques from the tax commission. Most of these payments have already been paid out.

On September 1st, during a special legislative session, legislators in Idaho approved a new tax refund for all Idahoans who filed their state tax returns in 2020. People who file individually will receive $300, while those who file as a couple will get $600.

The special session authorized different payments, which started being priced in the last few days of September 2022. According to them, they plan on sending roughly 75,000 rebate payments each week. The end of this year and also the first few months of next year will be used to handle payments.
