2. Tech gadgets

If you’re one of those people who love having tech gadgets, you’ll surely like to know that you can save hundreds of dollars when it comes to buying things such as TVs, laptops, or tablets. Some savings experts suggest purchasing an “open-box TV” from brands including Target or Best Buy so that you can get the most out of your purchase.

By doing so, you’ll get a discount on a TV that was returned or used as a store model but be sure that you also receive a full warranty, as you would normally receive on a brand-new item. Speaking of stores and brands, you can save up to 25% if you purchase the floor model item at Best Buy.

You can also look on Amazon Warehouse for all the used tech that you want, including open-box items such as laptops and tablets that have been either returned, damaged in a depository, used, or refurbished. And if you look on this website, you’ll notice that there is a category called “Buying Options,” where Amazon sorts by condition, so you can be sure if the product is in good condition or not.

I’ve never owned a brand new vehicle. Also, I have found really great gently worn clothing for my kids and myself at thrift stores and Goodwill.

Instead of buying books, borrow them from the library.

I like having several translations of the Bible to compare and contrast. It’s like stereoscopic vision. I like having old favorites close at hand in readable print and a beautiful cover when possible like like the copy of OHenry’s short stories I can see from here. I have many books, some long out of print, on making toys and I use them to plan new projects. Sometimes planning these projects is as much fun as carrying them out although several young friends and I had a lot of fun doing one lately. When I was about 7 years old my parents [ardent readers both] took me to a bookstore and while there let me choose a book. I asked for and got two. But I still have and still use both of them. One is a fold away dollhouse and the other a basic book on needlework with emphasis on toymaking.

I recently got turned on to open box purchases! My HP laptop suddenly died.
I bought a Lenovo laptop and 2 TP-Link WiFi range extenders for half of the new price. The down side was my laptop was missing the user manual but the vendor included a laptop carrying case in compensation.
