2. Streaming services

Who’s up for some binge-watching on Netflix? Whenever you’re ready to unwind with your favorite TV shows be happy that no matter your age, you can receive freebies on your birthday for various streaming services you just have to know where to look.

For example, Amazon Prime gives seniors who receive government assistance, such as Medicaid or SNAP, a nice discount on their membership. Instead of $14.99 per month, you will pay only $6.99, which is more than a 50% discount, so you can save the money for something else!

Are you up for going out on a date at the cinema? I have great news for you if you are a senior over 55! One day a week, seniors 55 and over can receive special discounted prices at Cinemark. Seniors receive discounted tickets for any movie on that day, regardless of the showtime; the exact day changes according to the venue.

3. Grocery stores

Prices on groceries are skyrocketing now, so we need all the help we can get to have a full basket at a lower price. Is this even possible? Well, one of the best ways to save money on your weekly groceries is by using in-store coupons or by having an account on the supermarket’s mobile app. However, these local shops will be your best bet if you are purposely seeking senior discounts:

Hy-Vee stores offer senior discounts that differ by region; the chain has roughly 300 locations spread throughout eight Midwestern states. Every week, all the Hy-Vee stores provide a senior discount day when seniors can get 5% to 10% off (with some stores starting at age 55 and others at older ages). Please don’t hesitate to ask your local Hy-Vee store for further information if you have any questions about the specifics of the savings.

Fry’s if you are from Arizona, lucky you! Customers 55 and over may receive 10% off most purchases on the first Wednesday of each month, but not money orders, medications with a prescription, alcohol, tobacco, or fuel.

Bashas’ is another store located in Arizona that gives clients 55 and above a 10% discount every Wednesday. To receive the discount, you’ll need to utilize your Thank You Card and could even need to present identification.

…psst! Those groceries you’re about to buy gotta be carried in some durable bags, right? After all the discounts you’re going to score I am sure there will be quite a lot of items. You must check out these amazing reusable shopping bags! They’re foldable, compact, and can fit right into your purse.

4. Hotels

If you can score a good price for airlines and car rentals, it would be great to have that for accommodation too, right? Well, because I love to give good news to people, I will tell you that some chains offer great deals for seniors. Some of them are Caesar’s, Omni, Best Western, and Extended Stay America.

Caesar’s surprises you if you are 50 years old, and for all their hotels and resorts throughout 12 states, you may save up to 30% on accommodation prices. But, while making a reservation, you’ll need to provide proof of your age and identification online. To begin your search, select “Senior (50+) Rates” from the drop-down option and click “Verify with ID.me.”

Omni, on the other hand, offers a discount if you prepay for your booking, but like Caesar’s, you have to choose senior rates from the menu when you are booking your room.

Best Western offers discounts for seniors over 55, which applies to any location across more than 100 nations.

Extended Stay America has the same policy as the ones mentioned above, so you have to tick the senior discount option from their menu. Furthermore, if you sign up for their loyalty program, you will get some other extra discounts at restaurants, car rentals, and retail stores.

On your way to your favorite retailer, don’t forget the coupons! In addition to the mobile app, they are also great for obtaining numerous discounts. Some of the big retailers that offer discounts for seniors over 55 are:

Goodwill – discounts for seniors at Goodwill may differ from one store to another but also from one region to another. However, most of them provide a weekly senior discount day where discounts range from 10% to 25%. For details, ask at your neighborhood shop.

Walgreens – Senior’s Day at Walgreens is held on the first Tuesday of every month. After creating an account on MyWalgreens, you may receive 20% off on all normally priced products in-store, with a few exclusions such as alcohol, tobacco, stamps, and more. Just let the cashier know that you plan to participate.

You have the entire week to complete your online order and receive your 20% discount; simply enter the code SENIOR20 at the checkout. But be careful because you may only use the coupon once that week, so make sure you keep clicking “add to cart” until you have everything you need for that week.

That’s about it! These are the best discounts offered for seniors over 55, and if you find them useful, don’t forget to share them with your friends too. Until next time!
