Seniors: Will You Have to Retake Your Driving Test This Year? What You Should Know About DMV Rules

Shorter Renewal Cycles: More Frequent Check-Ins

Another common change for older drivers is a shorter renewal period.

Instead of renewing every 8 or 10 years, you may be required to renew more frequently—sometimes every 2 to 5 years depending on your age and location.

This doesn’t mean you’re at risk of losing your license. It simply allows the state to check in more often and confirm that you still meet the requirements for safe driving.

No tickets, no accidents, exemption. Look at all problem drives. I see accidents all the time. Those involved don’t include seniors. Where is the ACLU when you need them?

I can see it from a safety standpoint. But for those of us that know how to drive with NO ACCIDENTS, it seems like a waste of $$.
