Fake IRS Accounts and Help Offers

Another evolving scam involves fraudsters offering to help you set up or manage your IRS online account. Victims are asked to provide their Social Security numbers, tax documents, or login credentials to “secure” their accounts. However, these offers are often fraudulent, leading to unauthorized access or identity theft.

The IRS provides secure instructions on how to create and manage your account directly on their official portal. Never share tax credentials or personal information with unknown third parties, even if they claim to be from a reputable tax service or offer help with tax filings.
