The Revised Order: Why the Maximum Payout Jumped to $200
By September 2026, the court-appointed settlement administrator had already disbursed more than $845 million in restitution. However, hundreds of millions of dollars in the $1.5 billion redress fund remained uncollected by eligible consumers.
On September 17, 2026, a federal judge approved an amended joint motion between the FTC and Amazon. This revised order authorized immediate changes to expedite disbursements and prevent millions of dollars from sitting idle.
Under the revised terms, the court raised the maximum Amazon Prime refund cap from $51 up to $200 per person. This change ensures consumers harmed by prolonged, unauthorized billing cycles receive more comprehensive financial compensation.
The updated order also introduces an automatic top-up mechanism for previous recipients. If you collected an initial $51 payment during earlier rounds, you may receive an additional payment of up to $149 by April 2027.
These supplemental payouts will execute automatically if uncollected funds remain in the redress account by February 2027. Regulators created this safeguard to ensure every allocated dollar reaches qualified household bank accounts.
