When and How the Money Arrives

Most eligible beneficiaries will receive a $90 direct deposit on or around Oct. 8, 2026. Those who don’t use direct deposit will receive a Treasury check during the month, labeled “Medicare Improvement Fund Payment; $90 Payment to Offset October Premium.” Checks go to the mailing address registered with Medicare.

In mid-October, beneficiaries will also receive a letter or email from the president.

How to Check Your Eligibility or Payment Status

There are two numbers to know, depending on your question:

  • Eligibility: Call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
  • Payment status: The Social Security Administration, at 1-800-772-1213, handles questions about whether your payment has been sent.
