New Jersey

Who’s Eligible: Residents of New Jersey who owned or rented a primary house in the state on October 1, 2019, qualify for property tax rebates. The 2019 household income threshold for homeowners is $250,000, while the threshold for renters is $150,000. The deadline for applications was December 30, 2022.

Furthermore, under the ITIN Holders Direct Assistance Program, extra payments are being sent to those who filed a 2021 New Jersey income tax return, have an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, and met certain income requirements in 2021.

Amount: Homeowners whose household income in 2019 was $150,000 or less will get $1,500, while those with a household income between $150,001 and $250,000 will get $1,000. Eligible renters (income of $150,000 or less) will receive a $450 stimulus check. Under the ITIN program, qualified residents receive $500 for each ITIN holder stated on the tax return.

When Sent: New Jersey will start making payments in late spring 2023 (no later than May 2023). ITIN payments began in November 2022. If you didn’t get an ITIN payment by December 30, 2022, you can call 609-292-6400 (New Jersey Division of Taxation).
