These 10 States Will Get the Largest Social Security Increases From the 2027 Trump Bump COLA

Strategic budgeting will help retirees maximize their purchasing power as incoming cost-of-living adjustments take effect.

The bottom line

The 2027 COLA delivers the largest raise retirees have seen in four years, and for those in high-earning states like Connecticut, New Hampshire, and New Jersey, the increase will exceed $80 a month. But a bigger raise is ultimately a response to higher prices, not a gain in wealth.

For most retirees, the 3.6% increase is meant to help them stay even, not get ahead. Keeping an eye on Medicare premiums and reviewing your personal benefit notice in late November will give you the clearest picture of what your 2027 budget really looks like.

Mostly rich states that already get higher payouts. The lower payout states always get left out!

Being a Floridian, I grew up here, worked at lower wages than the states mentioned as the top ten, and when ever SS gets a boost it does not cover the increase in my supplemental insurances, my property taxes, property insurance, food, medicine. I hate when I see all these states paying their SS recipients extra and I do not think that is fair when in my state we do not get it but then most of the SS in Florida are people who worked and retired in other states that’s income was twice of what the same job would pay in Florida, therefore sort of robbing hard working Americans so much less than other states. I am 73 and still working because if I do not I lose my home or die due to no money to buy insulin. It makes me mad that they all come down to my beautiful state and make it to where we cannot retire and enjoy our senior years, because they drive all our prices up because we do not get the benefits like they did from working in other states.
